Qualcomm Doubles Down on Automotive

Company places its bet on new Snapdragon platforms to power a coming wave of automotive AI use cases and personalised experiences.

For the first time, Qualcomm dedicated an entire day to automotive at the Snapdragon Summit, unveiling the new Snapdragon Cockpit Elite and Snapdragon Ride Elite platforms. This clearly underlines its intent in the area as well as the growing importance of this category to the company. The announcements in brief:

• New Snapdragon Cockpit Elite and Snapdragon Ride Elite platforms built on Qualcomm Oryon CPU, now tailored specifically for automotive

• Cockpit Elite designed to power advanced digital experiences

• Ride Elite concentrates on automated driving capabilities

• Flexible architecture allows automakers to seamlessly combine both on the same SoC

• Designed to deliver 3x faster CPU and up to 12x stronger AI performance compared to previous flagship generation

• Working with multiple automotive partners. Mercedes-Benz and Li Auto confirm they will use technology

• Available for sampling in 2025

The latest additions to the Snapdragon Digital Chassis portfolio, the two new platforms are designed to bring a whole new level of power and intelligence to next-generation vehicles. They will help further accelerate the industry’s drive towards software-defined vehicles (SDVs) at multiple price points, as well as simplifying vehicle architecture and development updates.
